my name is Laura and I'm a contemporary visual artist. I am currently based in Berlin but I hail from Aotearoa New Zealand. Prior to moving to Europe I was living in a little city called Wellington where I studied Fine Arts at Massey University.
As a creative person I think it's really important to leave yourself open to the exploration of different styles and mediums so I'm hesitant to describe my work, except perhaps in broad strokes, so let's just say some common motifs I like to work with, but am not limited to, include geometry, plant life, architectural elements, organic forms and repetition.
Over the years I have used many mediums but my work is primarily sculptural, two-dimensional images, or somewhere in between the two. Recently I've been really enjoying working with acrylic paint again and it has inspired me to delve into brighter colour palettes.
Things that inspire me: tropical flora, architecture, pop culture, neon signs, Lost in Translation, social theory, Twin Peaks, scrap books, art deco, fashion, nature, art nouveau, feminism, collage, Broadcity, the colour pink, cyberculture, avant-garde, Kitsch and Lilith
